My Character Cheat Sheet

As part of my DM screen, I have a Character Cheat Sheet I use to quick reference my players. This helps me not have to jump into DND Beyond each time we look at something like movement speed, AC, or even as a reminder to special equipment they have.

You can access a sample one here and copy it for your campaign. Below are a few notes of what I include:

One big note! Because I’m using a table in Google Docs, you can’t use the “tab” button to create a tab in the cells. It will just jump you to the next cell. So I instead highlight a tab in the document and copy and paste it (helps keep it nice and neat).

Now here are the elements:

  • Character Name – I found that making the font size big on this helped me reference it faster
  • Class, AC, and HP are pretty straightforward
  • I put Walk and Swim/Climb especially because a few of my characters have modified climb speeds.
  • Darkvision! – Because this way you avoid everyone telling you at once lol
  • Languages is a huge help when planning and playing
  • Special is my section for equipment, abilities, etc.
  • I included weight/height and I even created a class of A, B, C, D to denote overall who was smaller (A) or larger (D). This is because I use the book The Monsters Know What They’re Doing: Combat Tactics for Dungeon Masters. It’s a wonderful book. In the section on Phase Spiders, it specifically talks about when they would attack the larger targets and when the smaller ones.

As always, contact us if you have suggestions. Hope this helps!
